What is endometriosis?

Endometriosis is a condition in which cells similar to those in the endometrium, the layer of tissue that normally covers the inside of the uterus, grow outside of it.

Symptoms of endometriosis are for example pelvic pain, very strong menstrual cramps and infertility. Endometriosis can't be cured but it can be treated with pain killers, hormonal medication and surgery.
